The Dark Night of Saints

You were hungry and she gave you bread you were naked and she clothed you

But she did not get this nourishment in return
She believed she believed oh did she ever
But did you know of the great spiritual darkness that she suffered?
They say all saints suffer a dark night but never a whole life

She walks down a one way street
And lights the way for those who live in darkness too
Lonely days absent ways
The torture it can’t be explained
Longing and longing for the spirit to fill the hole
We search for something we cannot see
If I was a saint surely I too would be a saint of darkness
